Six million people speak Danish around the world. The language originated in Denmark, yet strong ties connect this North Germanic language to Norway, Sweden, and northern Germany where it is an official minority language. With Danish communities from Denmark to the States and all the way South to Argentina, Denmark is a global linguistic staple.

If you would like to be able to connect with these communities on another level, it is a great idea to learn their language. You will also be able to make tourists feel at home when they come to visit Toronto. This is one of Canada's leading tourism destinations, welcoming almost 45 million visitors annually. According to Toronto’s Tourism Services, in 2018, 5.1 million overnight visitors came from international destinations, such as China and Mexico, and spent 2 billion dollars on the city’s goods and services. So, if your business could benefit from this booming tourism industry, make sure you learn the language these visitors speak so they can truly appreciate the city and will want to come back.

Where to Practise Foreign Languages in Toronto: Attending a language class brings great results but it is also important that you keep on practising after your lesson is over. One of the best ways of improving your pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and speaking and listening skills is to talk to native speakers and other language learners. So, why not join one of the many meet-up groups in the city to make new friends with similar interests and practise the language in a nice and friendly atmosphere? One of these groups is TorontoBabel: Toronto's International Language Exchange, with over 13 thousand members who get together regularly to speak in languages such as Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese and more! Another option is the Mundo Lingo Toronto Free Weekly Multilingual Exchange, a group of people from all over the world who gather every week to speak in different languages and to make new friends. They hold events twice a week, so we are sure you will be able to join them and put the language skills you learn with us at Language Trainers to good use!

Where to Study Foreign Languages in Toronto: If you would like to certify your level of proficiency and have proof of your language ability, there are many institutions around the city that offer you this possibility, such as higher education establishments. For example, the University of Toronto has courses you can take in 27 languages, including French, Chinese, Arabic, Dutch, Japanese and Korean. Also, the Ryerson University Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures offers language programs in Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French and Spanish. However, if you are not interested in getting a certificate but would still like to learn, you can study a foreign language in Toronto in one of the several institutions established in the city; One of them is our own Language Trainers Preparation Course, a program that will guide you to fluency while preparing you to take another (longer and more challenging) course or exam. Our instructors are well-prepared native speakers of the language you choose and will tailor the lessons to your preferences and skills. For example, we can help you get ready for an officially recognized language exam, like IELTS, which can be taken at English Testing Canada on Spadina Avenue.

Language Jobs in Toronto: Whatever your career aspirations, advanced language skills will make you stand out in comparison to monolingual candidates. After taking a course with us, you will be able to take advantage of the many international job opportunities Toronto has to offer. For example, several companies in the city are always hiring bilingual speakers to add to their teams, such as Accenture, Pearson, SoundHound and Leitner. So, if you are looking to advance in your career and would like to apply for an international job, taking a language course is a smart decision to make. Also, there are many international chambers of commerce in Toronto, such as the Spanish, Korean, German and Italian institutions, which organise annual conferences and events for their members to connect with foreign companies and expand their business networks. So, take advantage of these opportunities and impress the attendees with your new language skills!

Language Culture in Toronto: Learning a second language will also allow you to experience the culture of that particular community on a whole new level. Toronto is a diverse and multicultural city, with many themed-cultural events, festivals and clubs which organize entertainment throughout the year. Make the most out of these events by learning the relevant native language! If you are studying Italian, for example, you can attend the Italian Contemporary Film Festival. This event attracts around 23,000 visitors every year who come to the city to watch classic and contemporary Italian movies in their original language. Those who are more interested in learning French and love music can attend the Franco-fête, a massive annual music event that pulled in thousands of attendees for their line-up in honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017. Toronto is also a great place to experience the vibrant Spanish and Latino culture: films, performing arts, music and literature all have a great presence in Toronto.

Whatever your needs for learning, we have language courses suitable for you. Our native instructors will tailor the lessons to your learning style and needs. Get in touch with us and we will arrange for a tutor to go to your home or workplace. You can also take your classes in a public place if you prefer, like in the Toronto Public Library on Gerrard St., the Page One Coffee +Bar on Mutual St. or Café Plenty on Dundas St.

And if you live on the outskirts of Toronto, let us know. We have top-notch instructors that can get started today in nearby cities, such as Brampton, Hamilton, Mississauga, Oakville, Milton, Ajax, Markham and Vaughan.

Send us an inquiry and take one of our language level tests so we can see where you stand and start designing a personalized course for you!
